Be Seen. Be Heard. Be Hungry.

Starting yesterday at 7 AM until today at 1PM my youth group along with thousands of other youth groups throughtout the country did the 30 Hour Famine. Basically, we raised money to help starving kids in Africa. We then fasted for 30 hours to experience what true hunger feels like. This was my second year doing it, and it really opens my eyes to realize how selfish and lazy I can be. This year, 150 teens in my church did the famine. We raised a little over $21,000! It's really cool because we don't fast alone. We are all hungry together. We all went to the church around 5:30 yesterday and we hung out and played games. We also learn alot about what other kids in other countrys have to do everyday to survive. I always knew I was blessed to live in America, but didn't really appreciate how much I take for granted. At 1PM when the famine ended we all had a HUGE breakfast! It was so good, but you sometimes forget that we fast knowing that when the 30 hours is over we all get to eat. Other starving children don't always know when the next time they will eat is. So anyway, it was alot of fun, and I really got alot out of it. The picture above is a bunch of us in the awesome shirts we made :-p
