30 Hour Famine

Hey everyone! So my church youth group, Elevate, does this thing called the 30 Hour Famine every year. Every day 29,000 children under the age of 5 die because of hunger, disease, and poverty. 15,000 will die today from hunger alone. That is one child every 6 seconds! So what my youth group, along with thousands of other youth groups across the country do is for 30 hours go without food. Before the famine we ask everyone and anyone we can to sponsor us. Just $1 feeds a child for a day, $30 for a month, $360 for a year, and so on. Think about that. Just $30 feeds a child for an entire month! That's less than what your family might spend to go out to dinner. The money we raise goes to Africa to help starving children. It doesn't seem like much really. All I do is go hungry for 30 hours and I save thousands or children's lives! Teens these days tend to be really selfish. Think about all the food you waste. I tend to waste so much food without even thinking about it! So for 30 hours every year I go without food to experience what children go through everyday! It really opens your eyes because you dont really ever experience TRUE hunger! Yeah my stomach might be a little uncomfortable before lunch, but that is nothing compared to what some children experience everyday. This year the famine is from 6AM Friday, February 22- 12PM February 23. So you should help starve hunger as well by sponsoring me! You can give as much or as little as you would like, or you can go to the applebees on Front Street next Monday night and a percentage of your bill will go to World Vison's 30 Hour Famine :-) So if you want to help see me, or go to 30hourfamine.org Thanks :-)

ALrite so heres a flippin freakin questionf or you mrs. k8... what makes starving children in africa worse off then starving children in america? if the only topic we are focused on here is starvation its the same thing, so why not help those in need in your own country... the one that gives you all the freedoms that would even allow you to raise money to support another country? And another thing? how come there were noo white starving kids in that video? is it just because its in africa... anyways im yelling RACIST! because there are thousands of white kids starving to.. ya i know weird right? a white kid yelling racist lol... its funny how the tables turn... But dont get me wrong i think its great your trying to make the world a better place :), i would just start close to home if you know what i mean...

Well why would i look for one from africa when my entire previous post was to express to you how i think that there are people in america that are starving to, so why dont you help them before you go to help africa? if you just focusing on the topic of starvation its all over the place, not just in africa.. thats my point.. all over the world, but you pick africa because africa is like "o we have problems, world plz help us" its like the little meo kid that always cries suicide.. you just dont know its going on everywhere else because we dont cry about our problems like they do. and if you want a pic of a starving white kid ill link you one, but i cant put it in this comment

Dont get me wrong im not putting your point down, by all means start in africa, atleast your doing something to help the world. Im just saying if i was going to do it, i would start in the country that i live in, that gave me all my rights and stuff.. just a person opinion.

Yes America is a great country. And yes I think we still have our own problems within our country that we should address. Our country and myself personally are very blessed so we have an obligation to help others. And by the way, World Vision doesn't just go to Africa and hand out money. They work with the people and teach them how to improve their situation. “Give a man a fish; you have fed him for today. Teach a man to fish; and you have fed him for a lifetime”—Author unknown So I respect your personal opinions, but maybe we will just have to agree to disagree.
